Week 8 - Revised North Elevation
After talking to Werner, I realized what he was saying, I got away from my original Parti, of turning my back to the noise, freeway and train. So below are some view of the new windows. I think it is important to get the classrooms on the 4th floor as much exposeure to light as possible, but I scaled back the amount of glass at the drom rooms, computer and cave, whcich goes back to my original parti.

David,
what do you think? to me it does indeed your parti more justice...
Of course I will challenge you now to not do the simple thing: simmetry. The slot windows would not necessarely line up next to the column - unless you are using it to explain your structure. If you want to explain your structure, I would ask for some join lines and material differentiation to get this accomplished, if you want to express a solid wall, then having some "dancing" windows in the two dorm floors and leaving may be even a few out on the lowest floor would help express the north wall as a solid plane. Organizing the windows symmetrically on the top floor is contradicting the linear aspect of your bar. To avoid the read of a center, one of the large class room windows might be split and aligned to one or the other side of the class room to avoid having a double window in the center. The two lower large windows would not need to be identiacl...
David,
Thanks again for pointing out the 3D crop box to do sections like you have. I still can't find an end to the knowledge of using this software. Thanks! I think it would be interesting to show a fluid pattern across this facade using punched openings. Something that ties together over the span of the building framed by the upper rectangular windows and grounded by your site? I like the changes you have made, much more suggestive than so literal.
Werner: I think it gets me back to my original parti! After we talked, I knew you were right and then when I got home and looked at my parti, I had to laugh at how I missed it!
Matt: No problem... anytime you need some REVIT HELP... call me! I agree (as noted above) changing the windows was a good decision. The bay type windows where more about "stepping outside my box" but this time I should stay in it!
Thanks guys for your ideas and thoughts.
